Mike Pettine has been a high school head coach.
He’s coached the defensive line, outside linebackers, been a coordinator and a head coach in the NFL.
Today, Pettine has a new role: mentor.
When 39-year-old Matt LaFleur interviewed for Green Bay’s head coaching job on Jan. 6, he told the Packers’ brass he hoped to retain Pettine as defensive coordinator.
Pettine, 52, hired LaFleur’s brother, Mike, in 2014 when he was the head coach in Cleveland. And Pettine had heard nothing but rave reviews about Matt LaFleur.
