Mike McCarthy and his coaches preferred Lance Kendricks to Marcedes Lewis and Robert Tonyan.
Matt LaFleur and his staff prefer Lewis and Tonyan.
That became apparent this week when the Green Bay Packers brought back Lewis and Tonyan but made no move to re-sign Kendricks.
In 2018, the snap counts at tight end were 314 for Kendricks, 190 for Lewis and 67 for Tonyan. The three tight ends each played in all 16 games.
According to ESPN, the Packers will re-sign Lewis to another one-year contract. Previously, Tonyan received a tender as an exclusive-rights free agent.
