The brain drain from the Green Bay Packers’ personnel department has added Alonzo Highsmith to the list of the departed.
It was confirmed Tuesday night that Highsmith has left the Packers to join the Cleveland Browns and general manager John Dorsey, his longtime colleague in Green Bay.
It’s a significant promotion for Highsmith, a senior personnel executive for the Packers who will become vice president of player personnel and possibly Dorsey’s right-hand man.
Highsmith, 52, is the 11th personnel man to leave the Packers in the last two decades to scout for another team.
