Byron Cowart was salivating.
Maryland’s defensive end was playing his first game for the Terrapins last September. And in the opening series of the first quarter, Cowart was set to light up Texas running back Tre Watson.
“It was my first game and my first time starting,” said Cowart, a defensive end who transferred from Auburn. “I went to make a tackle, then all of the sudden this dude came out of nowhere. It was just like a blur across my face.”
